STREAMS OF KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge Does Not Draw Borders

16 th May 2025 | 15:00 - 19:30 | Pavillion of Knowledge, Lisbon

The National Scientists' Day was implemented by the Assembly of the Republic in 2016, to emphasize the contributions of scientists to society. It is celebrated on the 16th of May, in homage to José Mariano Gago, who would celebrate his birthday on this date. In this context, Ciência Viva organizes the Conference Streams of Knowledge and invites researchers of different fields to present and debate current topics that strongly impact society.

In 2025, the Conference Streams of Knowledge has the theme  Knowledge Does Not Draw Borders  and will be held at the Pavillion of Knowledge - Centro Ciência Viva, in Lisbon.

The scientific community, diplomats and international partners will come together to discuss the impacts of geopolitics in scientific research, with a focus in Ukraine. We highlight the participation of an Ukrainian delegation,  Stanislav  Dovgyi, President of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine;  Vasyl Dunets, Deputy Director of the  Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine;   Mariia  Dubrova, Director of the Science Museum of Kyiv; and Katya Frantseva, Project Manager at the International Astronomical Union, in these debates.

We will raise topics that cross borders - physical and political - from the need to strengthen and create new collaborations within the scientific network, to the reconstruction and capacity building in the pursuit of knowledge.

At least the sky has no walls and birds don't draw borders or sow glass shards in the clouds. "
